Kiranoyu has a private bath with a small hot spring attached to it (pictured above) that you can use with your friends and family. The view of the outside is not spectacular, but this is one of the few places in Niseko where you can use a private onsen to begin with.

Hotels with private onsen are limited in Niseko and those that do have them tend to be quite expensive; we recommend Kiranoyu for visitors who are staying at a hotel without a private onsen but still want the experience.

Well-known for its open-air private hot springs where you can view the beautiful Mt. Yotei (pictured above), many visitors come to relax in the Yumoto Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafutei onsen. This hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Niseko Tokyu Grand HIRAFU.

While it is quite normal for hot springs to add extra water to the onsen, Yomoto Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafutei makes a point to not add anything, making it all-natural. A special system of water recycling lets you experience the same quality of water in any hot spring in the hotel.

Niseko Prince Hotel is Hokkaido’s first hotel that has rooms with private hot springs attached. These baths also contain natural hot spring water. The contrasting view of Mt. Yotei from the rooms at sunset, moonlight, shining in the morning sun, and a sea of clouds is enjoyed by many. This combined with the tatami-floored rooms can make you feel closer to Japanese culture. Note that there is no private rentable onsen, so you should look into reserving one of the special guest suites if you want the private onsen.

Located a 6-minute car ride from Niseko Annupuri Kokusai Ski Area in a secluded area, Muku no Sho is a popular hot spring hotel inspired by Ainu culture. The Ainu are an indigenous population of Hokkaido that have a deep history in the area.

Moku no Sho is known for a type of chloride hot spring called “Konbu Onsen.” Konbu is a type of seaweed, which may seem out of place seeing as Niseko is nowhere near the ocean. The origins of this hot spring also go so far back that it is hard to determine its roots, but it is said that this is most likely also related to Ainu words and customs.

If you are interested in bathing in this historic water with an element of privacy, you can rent a private onsen for 50 minutes at a time. For just 2,000 JPY you can rent the bath for just yourself or with your friends or family. The bath is spacious and has a great view of the river down below.

Alternatively, you can choose to stay in a guest suite with a private onsen (pictured above). The private onsen in the guest rooms are smaller in comparison, but you will not have to worry about extra fees or time limits.
